Short version: We're supporting an image file format we didn't support before. We have some photos people uploaded in that format. They're available to view now, but we no longer know who uploaded them.

I got around to investigating the HEIC files members have uploaded and which have caused so many problems, including the briefly-broken galleries a week or two ago. I just added code to ignore them then, but I looked closer this weekend. HEIC/HEIF has many advantages but slow adoption. It's been the default format for images on the iPhone for seven years, but is only supported by one web browser. You can now upload videos to OlderGay.Men. Videos you upload will be linked from your profile page for anyone coming to visit you. They can also be private, just like photos, so you can share them with specific members when you visit their pages. We hope you'll enjoy this and add a bit more life to the OlderGay.Men community!

Here are the results of our recent Patreon poll of what to do next on the site:

• 13 votes: Add video chatting to the chat room

OlderGay.Men started with pictures. One of my goals when I remade the site four years ago was to root out all the duplicates that had crept into the collection. I came up with a system that worked well. Until it didn't. Due to a broken dependency. I tried to make friends with the folks involved, but they weren't into it.

I put a stopgap measure in place which, of late, has ensured duplicates instead of preventing them. I started searching for alternatives. An old friend came to town and dragged me through assorted older men fleshpots. When I recovered, a new friend helped me get things working again this weekend. We're now updating the 11,000+ images which were added in the meantime. Hopefully, by the time you're reading this, we'll be on our way back to a more sensible set of pictures, and I'll be...

I let yesterday get away from me, and didn't get to wishing everyone a happy anniversary; OlderGay.Men turned 28. Hope you enjoyed it with good friends — and maybe a cute man — at your side.

When you're browsing men now, you'll see a little envelope next to the name of anyone you've talked to before. If you click through to his profile, under the button to write to him, you'll find a link that brings up your previous conversations. Hope this helps clear out some of the clutter and helps you stay in touch with OGM friends.

Supporting members can now save private notes about other members. You can add them at the top of the other member's profile page or the bottom of conversations with him, and they'll also appear as you're browsing members at https://oldergay.men/users . We hope it's useful for storing phone numbers, birthdays, reminders of shared interests — anything you want to remember!

Today, I'm happy to say that our long nightmare seems to be over; image rating should be working again. If you go to an image's page, like:
