I've created three membership levels and will work to delineate them further, but I appreciate your patience as I work out the kinks in integrating Patreon to our site and providing rewards to those of you who can afford to contribute. ☺️ Our new setup here is significantly more expensive than what sfpix.net required, so I'm grateful to anyone who can chip in and keep us going for everyone in the older gay community.

As an aside for what's on everyone's minds: Our hearts go out to everyone affected by COVID-19, which now includes almost everyone in the world. For those of us who are older or who have the luck to live with someone older, it's especially worrisome – I fret and obsess each time I go to the grocery store that I'll to bring the virus home to my partner. At the bottom of every page on the site, you'll now find comments other members have posted about the page, or a link to start a discussion if no one has commented yet.

I'm imagining people using this to:

• Share more information about upcoming events
• Give reviews or updates about Older Gay places
• Find out more about specific pictures
• Share their enthusiasm for stories they love
• And more

I hope this will keep the site lively and up-to-date. I only ask this, as always: Please, please remember to be kind. Especially with any comments you post under another member's profile page. We'll keep an eye on how things are going, and we'll remove any nastiness. Be good to one another, and make our job easy. 🙂

My apologies to those who were hit by our first spammer account today. I hadn't expected we'd have this annoyance so soon. I'm cleaning it up and will start working on limiting the ability of members to spam other members and adding the ability to flag a conversation if someone gets through.

Greetings to all the sfpix.net members who are joining us today. 🙂

And... we hope it's a happy surprise. We've been working on a new version of our site for many months and hope this is a welcome improvement.

Here are a few things to note about the change:

1. If you have any problems, you can reply to a newsletter email message or click "Help" at the bottom of any page.
2. Passwords are not being transferred from sfpix.net to OlderGay.Men. If you haven't set a password on OlderGay.Men, just click "Forgot your password?" on the login page, and you can create one.
3. Check our "About" page to see where we are and what we've planned.
4. Please add a bio, photos, and your location to your profile! We'd love to hear more about you. And we'll only only display your city, state, and country as your location to other members. Adding a location will let you see who is near you, places and events in your area, and much more. Honestly, it makes the...

The first pictures were added to what became sfpix.net on January 24, 1996. I'll put down the whole story of what happened since to bring us here when I write our about page. Today, I'd just like to thank everyone for being here and contributing, especially the small group that's taken over many of the repetitive tasks in the last weeks so I can concentrate on programming. I hope that, together, we'll have something truly useful to the community when we turn 25.

Good news, bad news for this holiday season.

I've been working at porting all the pictures from the old site to here. I reached a point at which I should have been nearing the end, but still seemed to be only halfway there. This morning, I noticed the reason.

On the old site, I did a lot of things in a half-assed way, planning to get around to doing them in a serious way later (which is what I'm doing now). One of these was "I should put a note on the front page of the site saying how many pictures we've collected." I did this in a quick-to-toss-off naïve way which... counted each picture for being in the collection and for when it appeared on its page of "New pictures posted this day".

So the bad news: We have 33,000-odd pictures of beautiful old men, not 66,000-odd. The good: That should still keep you busy for a while. 😀

Still have odds and ends to tweak, but we're getting closer to having all the old site moved over here. Hope the holidays are treating everyone...

I just added a link to "people nearby" on profile pages. It only shows if there are other members living within 60 miles of the person. Adding it to profile pages means I've added it to your profile page too, of course, so you can go to your profile to find a direct link to other members near you. Hope this is a useful shortcut.
