OUR ITINERARY
Day 1. Upon arrival at the International Airport in Lima, you'll enjoy a warm reception and transfer to your hotel. Relax the rest of the day; maybe enjoy some of Lima’s world class cuisine that evening?
Day 2. We begin with a walking tour of Colonial Lima, capital of the Vice Royalty of Peru. Visit the historic downtown and appreciate the more than fifty monuments and colonial edifices and catacombs (we won’t see them all, though!). Lunch and the afternoon are yours to enjoy however you wish. That evening, our welcome dinner is included. Lima is quite the foodie town and you’ll get a taste of traditional Peruvian cuisine at the hands of master chefs who use locally sourced, and fresh everything.
Day 3. After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for your included one-hour flight to Cusco, the capital of the Incan empire. We’ll quickly get to our hotel and relax the rest of the day. Cusco is surrounded by the Andes and is located over 11,000 feet above sea level. You’ll appreciate this down-time to adjust to the altitude!
Day 4. After breakfast, we’ll walk the short distance to a typically Peruvian restaurant. Here we’ll spend the morning learning how to cook some great Peruvian dishes together, while enjoying breathtaking views from the outdoor patio. We’ll then enjoy the delicious dishes we just made together.
After lunch we tour Cusco’s historic center—including the Plaza de Armas, Cusco Cathedral and the Sacsayhuaman Fortress (15th century Inca ruins and Qenko archeological site).
Day 5. Today we tour the Sacred Valley, where we will see buildings and temples of the Inca empire. Lunch (included in Urumbamba) is followed by a tour of Ollantaytambo—a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces on a hillside.
Day 6. We get an early start this morning right after breakfast with a ride on the famous Vistadome Observatory to Machu Picchu. The 2.5 hour journey allows you panoramic views of the spectacular Andean scenery, as well as cultural dancing shows on board! Next is a 30 minute bus ride to the Machu Picchu entrance.
Finally: Machu Picchu. Our private tour includes both the agricultural and urban zones. What could I possibly say here to “sell” this part of our adventure?!😊
After our tour, we return by luxury train and bus to our hotel in Cusco. Gourmet dinner on board with Peruvian cocktails, and live entertainment make the journey memorable. It’s a long day, but so worth it!
Day 7. After that long day yesterday: sleep in! Then, enjoy a free day to explore Cusco at your own pace. We’ll regroup that evening for a gorgeous farewell dinner of classic flavors of Peruvian cuisine.
Day 8. We transfer to the airport and fly back to Lima for your flight home—all too soon, I’m sure!
