The Monster is probably the most popular bar in Greenwich Village. It’s right on Sheridan Square, across from the infamous Stonewall. A happy piano bar on the ground level draws an older crowd. Downstairs, a dance floor draws younger guys. There’s a cover charge on weekends.
Although they no longer serve dinners, they continue to offer finger food, monster-sized drinks, great music, and good conversations. The Monday Sabor Latino show is extremely popular, replete with Salsa and Merengue music! Monster retains a nostalgic atmosphere in the heart of historic Greenwich Village, something often missing from the newest trendy spots.
Located in NYC’s West Village, Joe Scialo’s legendary nightclub and cabaret.
For over 50 years, this legendary establishment has provided a fabulous, welcoming establishment for gay New Yorkers, LGBTQ tourists and visitors & yes, even the occasional heterosexual to enjoy the wild laughter song and community of Greenwich Village.
The Monster's interior consists of a multi-level gay haven with a mix of vintage Lalique chandeliers and the famous mirrored staircase. With the 360 piano bar on the 1st floor and an energy filled nightclub downstairs, it’s no wonder celebrities from Andy Warhol to Rupaul frequented this institution.
