I just added a link to "people nearby" on profile pages. It only shows if there are other members living within 60 miles of the person. Adding it to profile pages means I've added it to your profile page too, of course, so you can go to your profile to find a direct link to other members near you. Hope this is a useful shortcut.

I just added tags for pictures. Tags that you added on the old site are being ported over as we add the pictures here. You can't add new tags yet and I've only implemented a simple means of finding pictures by tag, but if you go to the list of pictures and click "Tags", you can limit the view to those tagged with a given word. It's already a wonderful way to find lovely, lovely men. 😌

This should be the last task I need to do for porting pictures except handling galleries. Setting those aside for the moment, I'll start importing all the nearly 65,000 pictures from the old site now. This will be a good stress test for OlderGay.Men, so let me know what problems you see in coming weeks, but more importantly... enjoy. 🙂

My partner and I went on a 10-day cruise, then spent a few days in Fort Lauderdale. I put some work into the site along the way which will pay off down the road, and I'm home and back to a regular schedule now. Great things (I hope!) in store in the coming weeks. Hope all our U.S. friends had a very happy Thanksgiving surrounded by friends and family, with a happy new year ahead.

I’ve (hopefully) fixed the bug which caused announcements of site news to go off much too often. When you see a banner at the top of a page saying “Updates have been posted to our news page“, there should actually be something new to read there now. 🙂

I'm off to San Antonio in the morning for the Prime Timers convention, so this is going to be another slow week on OlderGay. I had hoped to add more publicly-visible fixes last week, but have been busy patching problems only worth reporting to the guys who pointed them out. Next week, I should have more to share. Hope everyone has a great week and that we'll see some of you in Texas!

I believe I've finally ousted the bug that was stopping people from adding themselves as attendees of events. If you have a minute, please go to our events page, pick an event, and click the link that says "Add yourself if you'll be there!". It should add the event to your profile, and you can click to go back to the event and remove yourself if you're not really going. Just let me know if you run into any problems in the process.

I thought I'd better jump in and say I'm still here. 😄 I've been working away on the site; you haven't heard from me because the work I've been doing isn't visible to everyone. Lots of behind-the-scenes fixes and improvements have been falling into place, but they haven't been the flashy sort that are worth trumpeting. But we're still moving forward. This week, I should be solving some problems that will affect all of us directly, and I'll be enlisting your help in making sure they work as planned. Thanks as always for being part of the site.
